Available Puppies
A note to all families who are looking for their first Aussie. I can not express enough to please do your research on this breed. I have been owning them for over 20 years and like so many others will always own one. 20 years ago they where all working lines. My female's bloodlines do have working lines in them. Some more than others.I for one like a little working lines in my dogs. They are very smart, loyal, loving companions. They are a herding breed who was designed to keep the herd together and protect them. They can be the same with their families. It is in their nature to be weary of strangers. They require a lot of socialization for the first 2 years..Even though your puppy is super friendly when you get him/her you have to do your part in training your pup. My males are all show lines. This helps mellow out some of the herding instincts but keep some of the traits I love about the working lines. There are pros and cons to both working and show lines. I ran across this read and although I do not agree with all she says about the working lines it is one that everyone who thinks they want or trying to decide if an Aussie is what they want should read. I have also posted another good read I feel that describes an Australian Shepherd. It may change your mind about owning an Aussie.I am OK with that. As an Aussie lover myself I would rather you know the pros AND cons before you get a puppy verses you getting a puppy that turns into a dog that is too much dog for you and your lifestyle.Aussies are an amazing versatile breed that with training can do any thing you ask of them BUT they are not for everyone. As a breeder it is my responsibility to my pups to try my best to match them with the best family suited for them the first time. This will also benefit you. I have several families who have came back when they where ready for their second and a few for their third pups from me. Here are the 2 reads I was talking about. http://www.karenshanley.com/raising-an-australian-shepherd-puppy/ www.vetstreet.com/dogs/australian-shepherd#0_qt9fuqgd |
